Certification Testing Set to Start on GE’s New Turboprop Derivative Engine
ORLANDO, FLORIDA – October 19, 2009 – Certification testing will begin by year-end on demonstrator engines for GE Aviation’s new H80 turboprop engine with first engine to test scheduled for early first quarter 2010. Derived from the proven design of the Walter M601 engine series, the H80 engine will produce up to 800 shaft horsepower (shp) to power utility, agriculture and business and general aviation aircraft.

Czech Government Awards Research Grants to GE Aviation Czech
PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC -- September 10, 2009 -- The Czech Government has awarded research grants valued at about $4 million USD (70 million CZK) to GE Aviation Czech s.r.o The grants will assist GE Aviation Czech in incorporating advanced technologies into its existing Walter M601 series engines to reshape the landscape of turboprop aviation. These research grants, awarded through the Czech Republic's Ministry of Industry and Trade, are the first grants ever received by GE Aviation from the Czech Government.
